Dr Whitney Davis

MBBS(Hons), FRANZCGP, PGDipOMG, PGCertRHPH, NDC Accredited, IBCLC

I’m a GP/IBCLC, as well as a mother of three. I developed a special interest in Breastfeeding Medicine, perinatal mental health (both maternal and infant) and sleep for new families through my own parenting journey and through supporting other mums in my volunteer work at La Leche League NZ.

As part of my special interest in this area, I’ve undertaken further training in women’s health (postgrad diploma), obtained my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant qualification (IBCLC) and Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) accreditation through the Possums Clinic in Australia.

I am an active member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, have recently sat on the Board of LLLNZ, and currently sit on the Ministry of Health’s Infant and Young Child Feeding Committee.

My philosophy

I am passionate about helping you grow your confidence in knowing and enjoying your baby, and improving the communication and connection between you.

I don’t believe that you have to make a choice between your baby’s mental health or your own, there’s very often a middle ground and a compromise, a way of working within your relationship so that you can both get your needs acknowledged and met.

Your values as a parent are front of mind, and I provide evidence-based information for you to experiment with to see what suits your unique and precious little person (or little people!) the most!

I do not believe in leaving little people alone in their distress, my suggestions will never involve leaving your baby to cry alone. I wholeheartedly believe that supporting and growing the connection between caregiver and baby is essential for nurturing you through any challenges you each face.
